Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Server Administrator (MCITP)


Master the skills you need to excel at one of the most crucial jobs in a company: setting up and maintaining the servers. A Microsoft certification in this career field will make you highly competitive in today’s high-tech workplace.

This program will prepare you to administer and manage Windows 2008 Networks and to take the Microsoft 70-640, 70-642 and 70-646 certification exams. Upon completing the program and passing the exams, you’ll earn the MCITP: Server Administrator certification.

In this program, you’ll cover topics including network planning, implementation and design, name resolution, Internet and firewall security, file management, authorization, authentication, group policy, user/group/computer management, installation and administration of servers, role management, backup and recovery, optimization and maintenance, PKI, patch management, certificate services and business continuity.

Textbooks included in the price of tuition are MCTS Exam 70-640 Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory; MCTS Exam 70-642 Configuring Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure; and MCITP Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-646): Windows Server Administration.  Offered in partnership with ed2go.

There are no prerequisites for this course, but you should have a basic understanding of computer hardware, hard drive installation, operating system installation, and basic networking. You can gain this knowledge by taking the CompTIA A+ and Network+ programs.
